Independent Candidate for Hawdon

Integrity, honesty and independence

I am excited to run as a candidate in the upcoming Banyule City Council Election, to be held in October 2024. I am an independent candidate for the Hawdon ward.

I will bring a much-needed fresh energy into the council with an open mindset.

More can be done and should be done on key areas of sustainability, financial management, and wider community engagement.

I am not associated with any political party and have always acted with integrity and honesty. I will use my independence and values to advocate for outcomes for the benefit of the residents.

Above all, I have the drive and passion to work hard to make Banyule an even better place to live for everyone.

About Me

  • Family has always been important to me. I have lived in Banyule continually for the last 18 years. I am now raising a family here. I understand the needs of fellow residents and their families.
  • I have been engaged within our community most of my life. Not only have I played sport locally but I am also a member of the Banyule Toy Library and the Watsonia RSL.
  • I work within a family engineering business liaising with clients from all walks of life. This has taught me the value of communication and customer service.
  • I have been part of community not for profit associations. I was the president of the Mid-Year Cricket Association for a long part of my eleven year service. This experience has given me a good understanding of issues faced by community activities operating on tight budgets.

What I will advocate for…

Affordable Cost of Living

I will work on Council to keep rate increases at CPI level or lower whilst maintaining a high level of council offered services. I will also advocate for delivering discounts for Banyule residents on council services including WaterMarc.

Sustainability

I will advocate for and continue to act on Banyule City Council’s plan to keep investing in solar, batteries and energy efficiency. This will hopefully see Banyule City Council hit its target of being carbon neutral by 2028 whilst also delivering real, recurrent cost savings each year.

Customer Service

I will be an open and responsive Councillor who delivers good customer service. I will respond promptly to resident inquiries and act as a strong advocate for our local area.

Traffic Management

I will push for safer roads and easing the congestion on residential streets. I will work with the residents who are affected by the NE link project to work out solutions together.

Community Amenities

I will advocate for upgrades and ongoing improvements to the connectivity of bike paths and walking trails. I will also work hard to protect our green spaces and community spaces.

Banyule Theatre

I will advocate for this theatre to remain in community hands by working with the state government to acquire it. I will advocate for this complex to be run as a social enterprise while supporting local arts and culture.
